Homily for Sunday April 10 2022
This Sunday, the Church celebrates the Passion of the Lord. It reminds us about how the Lord entered Jerusalem triumphantly. He was acclaimed by all as King of the universe.
This remarkable entry into Jerusalem has connections with his passion .
He longed to eat the passover with his disciples before he suffers. At this point, his betrayal by Judas and the denial by Peter were predicted and all come true. He prayed that the pending suffering might be averted, yet he abandoned himself to the will of the Father. He knew that time has come for him to be delivered into the hands of the enemy. He consoled the weeping daughters of Jerusalem.
He prayed that his execurioners should be forgiven. “Father, forgive them, they do not know what they are doing.” He also forgave the repentant thief. “Indeed, I promise you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Finally, he committed his spirit to God. “Father, into your hands l commit my spirit” Let all who live adore the King the Lord. Happy sunday.
