HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF THE 7TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I.
THEME: Faith grows!
BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)
Eccl.1:1-10; Mark 9:14-29
Babies constantly depend on their parents. And they cry whenever they need some attention. But grown-ups can’t act in the same manner. There comes a time when they begin to make their own decisions. Jesus was a bit exasperated with his disciples today, for expecting him to keep doing everything. They were unable to cast out a demon, because they hadn’t prayed like adults. They were still babies.

Friends, we must make efforts to develop our spirituality. Just like the father of the boy that was possessed by a demon, we must learn to ask God to help our little faith. This is the way to go. Jesus expects us to become His face in the world. We must act like He would, talk like He would, and walk like He would. Our very wisdom should stem from God’s, since all wisdom belongs to Him. It’s not enough to wait for God to help us act in every little situation. We have come of age; it’s time to act like the soldiers we have become by God’s Holy Spirit.
Good morning dear. God bless your week ahead. It is the week of elections, please vote competence!
