Homily for Monday, May 20 2019

Sometimes we see people who seems to know how to do something perfectly well and wonder how this is possible. For instance, when you see Messi play soccer, you can call him god of football, Michael jackson, god of dance and music, even king sunny Ade. Part of the things to ask is under what inspiration are they doing these things. Who is their teacher or coach and under whose support. These are the things that make people successful.

That’s the secret revealed in our readings today. In the first reading, St. Paul and St. Barnabas visited the people and by performing a miracle, they didn’t understand how it happened. They didn’t know under whose influence. They thought it’s juju or they are gods. But Paul explained to them that it’s done under the influence of the Holy Spirit. In the gospel, Jesus made it clear that anyone who loves him and obeys will be directed by the Spirit and the Holy Trinity will make a home with him or her. What a privilege! Definitely, there is nothing such individual won’t be able to do like Paul and Barnabas in the first reading.

My dear friends, under whose inspiration are we living and working. Many today live under the inspiration of drugs, lust, passion and sin. Some have their masters as evil people and devil incarnate. Such people will only do one thing evil. We love those whom we follow their suggestions and directions. A student who love a teacher would obey him and would learn better from him. Let us make Jesus our true master, build a relationship with him and we shall be able to achieve incredible things.

May the Love of the Lord continue to reign in our lives. Amen.
