Homily for Monday August 5 2019

Readings: Numbers 11:4B-15; Matthew 14:13-21
Scarcity of human resources and want has always been an issue and most especially at this time of our population explosion. Even if we have many things, there would still be some things we want and didn’t have. How do we respond to it or look for it? Some don’t care as long as they get it anyhow. Some simply give up on getting it and walk away. Few know where to go to get their scarce resources.

Moses and Jesus taught us where to go to in the readings today. In the first reading, the Isrealites taught that going back to Egypt is the solution because of food. Moses knew it’s God he had to run to. The disciples in the gospel taught sending the crowd away is the solution. Jesus knew that depending on God’s providence is the solution.

My dear friends, how do we seek to solve our problems? But doing it at all costs, going the wrong way or seeking for help from God. If we face the right place and seek through the right source, there would definitely be a solution. Then we would have a definite solution to our problems.

May the Lord help us in our struggles towards finding our needs. Amen.
