Homily for Friday of the 32nd Week in Ordinary Time Cycle II
Theme: Relationship unto salvation is given to us.

Homily for Friday November 13 2020
As we gradually come to the end of the Church’s litugical year, the reality of the eschathon- the end time, is presented before us. In the readings of today, the theme of relationship unto salvation is given to us.
In his second letter (2 John 4-9), the Apostle John admonishes: “watch yourselves, or all our work will be lost and not get the reward it deserves”, that is, if we do not live according to the commandment of loving one another. Only those who keep to what Jesus Christ taught can have the Father and the Son with them.
In the gospel reading (Luke 17: 26-37), Jesus Christ reminds his disciples that the reward on the day of the Son of man will be based on how we have lived our lives and our preparedness. Those who have desired to be in a relationship with God and have lived a life of faith will experience the salvation of God.
Dear friends, our loving God does not wish anyone to miss out on the gift of salvation. However, He is still a just God who will not persuade anyone who, in freedom, chooses to reject this gift of salvation. I ask myself today: am I ready to remain in a loving relationship with God, obeying His commandments or am I living according to my selfish desires?
I pray as we journey in life today, we will make an informed choice that will benefit and lead us unto eternity. In the words of the Psalmist we pray: with all my heart I seek you; let me not stray from your commands. With my heart I treasure your promise, that I may not sin against you (Ps. 119: 10-11). Have a loving relationship-full day!
