HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF THE 29TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II.

THEME: Live lives worthy of your vocation!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).

HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OCTOBER 21 2022.

Eph.4:1-6; Luke 12:54-59

There’s no doubt that God has called us to different Vocations. Some are priests, some sisters, some married men and women with diverse levels of responsibilities… We are all called to contribute positively to our world, one way or another. Now imagine what a disaster it would be if we lived lives contrary to what we’ve been called to. St Paul encourages us to be selfless, to bear with one another, to be gentle and patient. He calls us to cooperate with the Holy Spirit who brings peace that binds us together.

Look around you friends. Why’s there so much acrimony among brethren? Is it not because individuals are too concerned about personal interests? Is the man who insists on punishing an offender really interested in the offender’s good, or he’s just concerned about asserting his own authority and ego? The Lord Jesus reminds us that we must judge for ourselves what is right. We must empty out our wardrobes if we have skeletons in them. Otherwise, when we get caught, not even all our wealth can save us. May the Lord God have mercy upon us, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend ahead.
