Homily for Sunday April 12 2020
Welcome to Easter Sunday. The greatest feast that calls for sharing of Good News of Christ’s resurrection.
Forty days ago; from Ash Wednesday to Wednesday of Holy week, including the Triduum, we have being doing some Lenten observance. Many minimize their level of living in comfort, increase their charitable works, add up pressure in their prayer life, engaged in corporal and spiritual works of mercy, and what have you. All these showed that we have put our pledges, hope and trust in God.
On Good Friday; the second day of Triduum, Jesus Christ, the king of glory, the cause of our Lenten observances hanged on the cross for hours after much agony from garden of Gethsemane to Golgotha. At the end of it all and the beginning of the blank space, one of soldiers pierced Jesus’ side, the sacraments issued out and His humanity gave up. In between the blank space; Good Friday and early morning of the first day of the week, there was a great silence that ended with Good News of Resurrection. The joy of risen Lord brought the disciples together, called them to believe, gave assurance to their hope, dispelled fear and urged them to share the Good News of Resurrection.
As we continue to share the joy of Easter, may we remember the less privileges in need of Good News to over come their ugly situations. May the Arch angel of Good News visit us in this Easter tide with joyful news in consolation to our needs. Amen.
