HOMILY FOR DEMEMBER 21.

THEME: The God in Mary is praised by Elizabeth.

BY: Fr. Eugene Sixtus

1st-R songs of Solomon 2:8-14
Gospel Luke 1:39-45
In today first reading, our anxiety is compared with a young lover, who passionately awaits the arrival of her love. This young lover has got herself prepared in such away that she is eager to behold the face of her lover and have a cool embrace from him. Like this lover patiently waiting for her beloved, we Christians are in a very special way, anxious to see Jesus, the love of our life and soul.
How prepared are you to behold Christ?

RELATED: HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE 4TH WEEK OF ADVENT.

It is necessary to note, that as a part of preparations, we are to erase in our life any negative sinful inclinations which will be a great sources of distraction and hinder us from not beholding and embracing our love Jesus when he comes.

Such inclinations can be, finding and spreading negative things about others, so many Christians are often too comfortable to spreading negative things about others. It appears we are swifter to criticize, eager to judge and anxious to hear and spread unpleasant news about others than we are to celebrate them.
The mother of Christ has made a visit to Elizabeth, who was impressed and addressed Mary as the Mother of God, and refered her as the most blessed among all women and celebrated the blessedness of the Child Jesus in her womb. This act is no other than Christian maturity, affective maturity and emotional intelligence. We Christians are called to emulate her
For us to always grow spiritually and receive the blessings of God eternally, we must eradicate any form of spirit of jealous and envy in the goodness and wellbeing of others. Never let yourself be threatened by the success of others instead relief yourself of selfishness and scandalous news of others.

We are able to learn from Elizabeth this day what simplicity and humility is all about. We pray for continuous grace to always praise the God in others.
