HOMILY FOR SUNDAY APRIL 24 2022
This is the 2nd Sunday of Easter. It is also Sunday of Divine Mercy. On this day Jesus came and stood among the apostles and greeted them with peace (Jn. 20:19-32). He also breathed on them to receive the Holy Spirit. Again, he sent them on mission as he was sent by the Father.
The doubting Thomas was absent. But his unbelief made Jesus to come back after eight days so that Thomas could be convinced. Jesus blessed those who have not seen him and yet believe. We are among the blessed . The Lord also gave the apostles power to forgive or to retain sins (Jn. 20). Here comes Divine Mercy. It is the healing power of God given to men. Stop doubting, believe and you shall receive healing and forgiveness.
Through the mercy of God we have all been redeemed . Since the apostles received the power to heal, many brought their sick ones to them and they received healing through the Divine Mercy of God (Acts 5:12-16). For this we give thanks to the Lord for his love endures forever. Happy Sunday.
