HOMILY FOR 19TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR C – 7 AUGUST

HOMILY FOR 19TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR C – 7 AUGUST

HOMILY THEME: ALWAYS BE PREPARED

BY: Fr Emmanuel Nwokeji

HOMILY: As we welcome ourselves to 19th Sunday in the ordinary time of year C, let us not forget what the story of the Rich Farmer taught us. At least we observed two of his mistakes; not enriched in the eyes of God and surprise death that ended his chapter in this world.

Today’s Gospel of Luke 12:32-48 is the continuation of the last Sunday Gospel with solutions on how be rich in the eyes of God and avoid surprise death. Whatever we deposit in the others, institutions, churches in the name of God is way of enriching ourselves in the eyes of God.
Also to avoid unprepared death, let us gird our loins by departing from evil ways of our lives and abstain from unworthily desires.

Again, let us keep our lamps burning so that the days of Lord’s coming wiLl not take us by surprise or passed us by. Therefore, we must remained shining in good works.
Finally, let us do everything in faith, having hope that our believe and good works will attract us more blessings and glory from God. Let us emulate the faith of Abraham and Sarah who trusted in God till the end.

Happy Sunday.
