Daily reflection for Tuesday of the 2nd Week of Lent

Theme: DOING AS I SAY – SAYING AS I DO

By: Sr. J. K. Osiyemi EHJ

RReflection for Tuesday March 15 2022

Mt 23: 1-12.

Jesus is asking me to be a model and mentor in integrity and honesty. There should be no dichotomy in my verbal witness and my daily life, both should agree. I ought to practice what I teach and preach. My exemplary life, not the sweet coated words on my lips will bring Christ to others. Do I do as I say? Do I also obey and keep the rules I set for others? Do I take pleasure in advertising, promoting and painting myself as the ideal and perfect Christian? Am I upset when not addressed by my title? Why do I constantly seek validation, exaltation and glorification? Am I about to be diagnosed with ‘undue attention seeking’ disorder?

LET US PRAY
Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I have burdened others with rules that I did not keep. May I be true to my words. Pardon me for blowing my own trumpet, doing show off, and for wanting others to see me as high and mighty. Teach me humility so that I learn not to focus attention on myself. Burn away the spirit of secret personal agenda, evil of unhealthy competition and rivalry that resides inside me. Help all leaders to exercise authority humbly. May I always honour you as the Greatest Teacher and the Master of the Universe. Amen.
