Daily reflection for Thursday of the 4th Week of Advent

Theme: HIS NAME IS JOHN

By: Sr. J. K. Osiyemi EHJ

Reflection for Thursday December 23 2021

Lk 1: 57-66.

John the Baptist was born for the purpose of heralding Jesus Christ. His miraculous birth shows the goodness and graciousness of God. Zechariah’s power of speech returned when he wrote on the tablet to confirm the truth of the child’s name that his wife already mentioned. Do I shy away from affirming truthful revelation? Do I block God’s plan and promises from being fulfilled in my life and in the lives of those around me because I want to please certain persons? Am I gracious in my deeds as well as in my words? Do I recognize the various ways in which God has been gracious to me? Do I like John find joy and satisfaction in being humble and bearing witness to Jesus?

LET US PRAY
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for this special mission. Give me the courage of Elizabeth who spoke the truthful name of her child as divinely inspired even when she knew that she had no voice before the elders and tradition. Thank you for making me appreciate the beauty of significant and meaningful names for newly born children. Amen.
