Daily reflection for Saturday of the 4th Week in Ordinary Time Cycle II

Theme: REST, BUT BE COMPASSIONATE

By: Sr. J. K. Osiyemi EHJ

Reflection for Saturday February 5 2022

Mk 6: 30 – 34.

It is physically and spiritually self-destructive to go on working without asking the Lord to refresh me. I must daily make effort to recharge the battery of my spiritual life. I am not indispensable, others will carry out the work when I’m called to eternal rest. Retreat refreshes me spiritually. Rest invigorates my mental, emotional and physical self.

However, I also should be like the Lord Jesus by being caring and compassionate to those who need my help. Do I often go to Jesus who wants me to rest in his presence so that he can refresh me and give me new inspiration for my work? Do I appreciate time of vacation, retreat and night rest? Am I cut off and spiritually disconnected from the people of God because I over pamper my need for rest?

LET US PRAY
Dear Jesus, my Good Shepherd, give me a deeper desire for your presence, to sit with you in loving contemplation. Help me to discover more and more the beauty of ‘alone time with God’. Let me know that over working is not a virtue, and over resting is a vice. Let the fruit of this sacred time impel me to love and care for the needy. Give me a compassionate heart, and the strength and resources to care for those who need my assistance. Amen.
