DAILY HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OF THE 3RD WEEK OF EASTER

THEME: It is the Spirit that gives life!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

HOMILY FOR SATURDAY MAY 7 2022

Acts 9:31-42; John 6:60-69

The first reading today is filled with instances of manifestations of the power of the Holy Spirit. Aeneas, a paralytic who had been bedridden for eight years, gets up and begins to move around. Tabitha (also Dorcas) who never tired of doing good, is raised up to life from death. Here’s the Spirit at work in the Apostles because they lived “in the fear of the Lord.”

Friends, today, Jesus tells us that it is the Spirit that gives life, the flesh has nothing to offer. This does not mean our bodies are useless. It rather means that a healthy spirit makes a healthy body. Do we sincerely believe this? We must ask ourselves repeatedly if we’ve degenerated into carnality. Are we only concerned about bodily pleasures; drinks, money, flashy possessions, fame, popularity? Hey! It’s time to get back in touch with the Spirit. It’s time to get back to life. Make a firm decison to change something today!

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend.
