THEME: CONFESS JESUS DAILY.

BY: Fr. Karabari Paul

HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OCTOBER 15 2022

“Every one who acknowledges me before men, the Son of man also will acknowledge before the angels of God; but he who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God.”

Jesus in the Gospel of today (Luke 12:8-12) makes it very clear that we must acknowledge Him on earth, if we expect Him to own us as His saved people at the last day. This is the situation of, “what we give to God is what He will give us”. We must not be ashamed to let all men see that we believe in Christ, and serve Christ, and love Christ, and care more about the Kingdom business. You do not get ashamed of what you are proud of. Every Christian must develop pride in anything that is Godly. It doesn’t matter what opposes that.

It is the special responsibility of all Christians in every age and time to confess Jesus. It is the first mandate. It is not just for martyrs. All Christians has this duty and it has to be done daily. It needs no blowing a trumpet. It requires no noisy boasting. It is about using our daily opportunity. If we love Jesus, we ought not to be ashamed to let people know it.

It should be equally added that it is not always easy to do this. Confessing Christ in certain situations requires boldness especially in the face of persecution. It never will be easy as long as the world stands. It is sure to entail on us laughter, ridicule, contempt, mockery, enmity, and persecution. The world has its values which may not be Christian values But whether we like it or not, whether it be hard or easy, our course is perfectly clear. In one way or another Christ must be confessed.

To motivate us to boldly confess Him, Our Lord declares, that if we do not confess Him before men, He will “not confess us before the angels of God” at the last day. He will refuse to acknowledge us as His people. He will disown us as cowards, faithless, and deserters. He will not plead for us. He will not be our Advocate. He will not deliver us from the wrath to come. He will leave us to stand before the bar of God helpless, defenseless, and unforgiven. That won’t be out for us as we continue to ask for the grace. GOD IS STILL ON THE THRONE. May God bless you and your household always through Christ Our Lord Amen. Good morning.
