Theme: Guardian Angels!
By: Rev. Fr. Kevin Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)
Homily for Saturday October 2 2021
Baruch 4:5-12.27-29; Matt.18:1-5,10
Many of us grew up with the idea of Guardian Angels. Yes! But not as many truly accept this reality. We think we do, but we really don’t. Come to think of it; if we could truly see one giant looking handsome being with wings following us all over the place how many of us would continue living the way we currently do? Would we keep engaging in various forms of sexual perversion? Would we steal, tell lies, bear false witness, and live double lives? But sometimes we forget the God who brought us up.
Friends, angels have been given authority to guide and guard us. But as we lose our childlike simplicity and innocence, we become less aware of the presence of our guardian angels. We must learn to rediscover our ‘inner child’, for only the one who changes and becomes like a little child can enter the Kingdom of Heaven. And even when we lose our way, we must not be discouraged, for our guardian angels are continually in the presence of God in heaven, interceding for us. Why not ask their guidance as we struggle to get back on our feet?
Prayer
Angel of God my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here, ever this day to be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide me, Amen.
Good morning dear. God bless your weekend.
