Homily for Monday November 8 2021

This first day of the week launches us into an interaction with the Book of Wisdom for the next couple of days. The readings are filled with practical and sound advice on how to live out our faith, wisdom in action.. When faith is put into practice, many great things will happen.
Today’s first reading (Wis. 1: 1-7) summarily reminds us that wisdom is sign of life that is in touch with God. Wisdom is the living out of our awareness of God’s presence in our lives, which changes the way we act. The opposite of Wisdom, that is, not being aware of God’s presence, leads to evil, injustice and sin. Only the fool can say in his heart that there is no God. How is wisdom operating in your life?
Jesus, in the gospel (Luke 17: 1-6) speaks to His disciples on the need to not only live a good live, but also to avoid scandalizing others as they grow in faith. They were to forgive others beyond measure as God has forgiven them in Christ. Faith is the bedrock on which such Christian way of life can be fulfilled.
Dear friends, since we live not just for ourselves but for others too, we must make sure our lives do not constitute obstacle to others. Being aware of God’s presence in our lives helps us to act aright, act justly and increase our faith relationship with God. Living in wisdom – awareness of God’s presence. – is the only guaranteed access to God’s heart and our salvation
I pray as we journey in life today, we will not walk ignorant of our journey companion. If you want to get tired and frustrated in life, then walk alone; but if you wish to be strenghtened, focused, fulfilled and joyful in life, hold unto God, your traveling companion. May God lead us in the path of life eternal (Ps. 139: 24). Have Wisdom-full day!
