DAILY HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF THE 28TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II

THEME: The evil of Hypocrisy!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OCTOBER 13 2022

Eph.1:11-14; Luke 12:1-7

One of our greatest problems in the world is the presence of hypocrites and hypocrisy. Yes! The Lord Jesus today warns his disciples against the yeast of the Pharisees – their hypocrisy. When we pretend to be virtuous, having innumerable virtues and principles, when in reality we’re corrupt; when we condemn evil from the rooftops, but harbour an empire of evil and wrongdoing; when we claim to be holy and spotless, when in fact we’re dirty and depraved; we’re nothing but hypocrites.

Friends, we must not fear those who can kill the body, but have no power over the soul. Truth must be told, in love and fear of God. The ‘Oga Boss’ should not dictate what comes out of our mouths no matter how much power he/she has over you. The President of the State or Bishop of our Church must not be able to influence our consciences negatively just because of the high position he or she wields. We have been sealed with the Holy Spirit. We must act as such. Hell may not be very populated, but you can be certain that hypocrites will be there. Lord, help us to not live lives that LIE, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend ahead.
