22ND WEDNESDAY HOMILY IN ORDINARY TIME — YEAR B

HOMILY THEME: He would not allow them to speak because they knew he was the Christ

BY: Fr Deotacious Chikontwe SMA

1 Corinthians 3:1-9, Ps. 33:12-15,20-21, Luke 4:38-44

FROM OUR FIRST READING
In the first reading, Paul talks about feeding the Corinthians with milk, not solid food. This means that their faith is still young and needs to grow. Just like babies need milk before they can eat solid food, new believers need basic teachings before they can understand deeper truths. Faith grows over time. It requires patience and care. We need to start with simple lessons about God’s love and forgiveness. As we grow in our faith, we can learn more complex teachings about living a holy life.

FROM OUR GOSPEL READING
In our gospel reading, Jesus goes to a solitary place to pray. This shows the importance of spending quiet time with God. Even though Jesus was very busy healing and teaching, He still made time to be alone with God. We also need to find time for quiet prayer. Life can be busy and noisy, but setting aside a few moments each day to pray helps us stay close to God. This quiet time can give us peace and strength.

CONCLUSION
Paul’s message reminds us to be patient with ourselves and others in our faith journey. We all start with simple understanding and grow as we learn more. Encouraging each other and being patient helps everyone grow in faith together.
Jesus shows us that no matter how busy we are, we need to make time for prayer. Finding a quiet place to be alone with God helps us grow in our relationship with Him. It helps us listen to God’s voice and feel His presence in our lives.
I wish you all a Blessed Wednesday.
