HOMILY THEME: THE ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PRESENCE

Beloved in Christ, we gather today under the burning light of hope that flows from the Cross. The Word reminds us that our Saviour embraced death so that we might share in His everlasting life. This is no ordinary promise—it is the thunder of heaven breaking through our fragile existence. We are not creatures of the night nor prisoners of fear; we are children of light, called to walk in vigilance, clothed in faith, and set apart for glory. The darkness of the world whispers false security, but the Day of the Lord will shatter illusions. Let us, therefore, remain steadfast, awake, and sober, for in Him we are destined not for ruin but for eternal triumph.

The psalmist proclaims with unshaken courage: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? These words are not gentle poetry but a battle cry for every soul under siege. In a world where shadows loom and storms rage, we must anchor our hearts in the unshakable fortress of God’s presence. To live in His house, to gaze upon His beauty, is the ultimate longing of every heart that has tasted His goodness. Yes, trials will rise, and enemies will surround us, but those who trust in the Lord shall see His goodness in the land of the living. Wait upon Him with courage, with boldness, with faith that does not tremble before the enemy.
And behold, when Christ walked into the synagogue, His presence tore the silence apart. His words carried fire, authority, and dominion. Even the forces of hell could not resist but tremble before His voice. The unclean spirit cried out, acknowledging what many refused to see—that He is the Holy One of God. With one command, chains were broken, fear dissolved, and the oppressed was set free. Such is the power of our Redeemer: His authority still shakes demons today, His word still heals wounds, and His Spirit still ignites the hearts of the faithful.
This is our calling: to live as radiant witnesses of His power, as fearless heirs of His Kingdom. Do not slumber in mediocrity, do not sink into despair, and do not let the darkness claim your soul. Rise with courage, for Christ lives in you. Encourage one another, lift the weary, strengthen the faint-hearted, and walk together as sons and daughters of light. For He who died for us has risen with power, and in Him we shall see victory—not only in eternity but even now in the land of the living. GOD IS STILL ON THE THRONE.
