13TH THURSDAY HOMILY OF ORDINARY TIME — YEAR A
HOMILY THEME: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
BY: Fr. Ernest Cross
Eph 2:19-22; Psalm 117:1-2; John 20:24-29
Thomas’s request to see and touch the Risen Lord reveals a deeply human aspect within us all. His doubt is not simply skepticism; it is the heartfelt cry of someone seeking certainty in an uncertain world. The Risen Lord does not harshly rebuke Thomas but meets him exactly where he is—in his need for tangible proof.

Yet, Christ’s gentle correction leads us to a deeper truth: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” This statement is not a condemnation of reason, but rather an invitation to understand that faith transcends empirical verification without contradicting it.
Thomas’s declaration, “My Lord and my God!” stands as the pinnacle of apostolic witness. Through his honest struggle, he reaches the fullest acknowledgment of Christ’s divinity found in the Gospels.
Let us embrace our questions and doubts not as barriers to faith, but as pathways to encountering the living God who patiently awaits our “yes.”
GOD BLESS YOU.
