12TH WEDNESDAY HOMILY IN ORDINARY TIME — YEAR A
HOMILY THEME: GOD NEVER FAILS!
BY: Fr Oselumhense Anetor
Genesis 15:1-12.17-18, Psalm 105, Matthew 7:15-20
Broken promises? Failed dreams? Bitterness and hurt? Hopelessness and despair? No matter what we’ve been through, God NEVER forgets his covenant. Think about Abram who had no heir as at when God called him. Think about how much of a failure he must have considered himself to be, being childless at 75, in a world where being a father was everything. But Abram was steadfast in walking with God. God therefore made a covenant with him; an enduring pact that took another 24/25 years to fulfill.

Friends, God’s word isn’t about false prophesies and miracles that are carefully orchestrated. God’s word isn’t about magical fantasies and theatrical brouhaha. When God moves, it is to meet a particular NEED of ours, it is never for show. When Jesus saved the demoniacs, it was to stop the oppression of the devil over them. God wants his covenant to yield fruits in us; fruits that last – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. By our fruits, we shall be known.
Good day dear. God bless your day ahead.
